MAN ACQUITTED OF MURDER IN CHARLOTTE COURT DEATH HERALD-
LEADER STAFF REPORT
A Fayette Circuit Court jury acquitted a man charged with murder after about five hours
of deliberation yesterday, …Vaughn Harris, 18, of 502 Charlotte Court, was found not guilty in the June 1994 shooting death of Todd Sterling Wilkinson, 37.
This was Harris' second trial in the slaying … Art Higgs, pursued an "outsider" defense and succeeded. Harris had recently moved to Lexington to care for his mother who has AIDS… Because Harris was from out of town, some residents of the Charlotte Court neighborhood, where Wilkinson's body was found June 30, 1994, chose to blame Harris for the shooting, the defense attorney said. Fayette Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Larson could not be reached for comment.[Lexington Herald-Leader, September 13, 1995]
